PACERS GAMING VS BLAZER5 GAMING – THE TURN GROUP A

INDIANAPOLIS – Looking to secure a spot in next week’s in-person action in downtown Indianapolis, Pacers Gaming suffered a setback with a heart-breaking 71-70 loss to Blazer5 Gaming (1-3) Wednesday evening in the remote group play of the NBA 2K League THE TURN Tournament.  The Pacers, now 2-2 in the 5v5 event, will be looking for a must win Friday night at 8:00 p.m. when they face Mavs Gaming.

Guard Reizey (Reid Hill) led the way for Indiana with 27 points and eight assists on seven-of-11 shooting from the three-point arc.  Vandi (Zach Vandivier) netted 23 points and center Jomar (Jomar Varela-Escapa) had 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and a blocked shot.  Lavish (Andron Thomas) added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Pacers got off to a slow start against the Blazers, having as many points (four) as turnovers (four) as Portland stormed to a 16-4 edge as the game started.  Vandi scored eight and Reziey tallied seven in the first quarter as Indiana trailed 23-15 after one.  The Blazers edged Indiana in a tight second quarter, 15-14 to take a 38-29 halftime lead.  The Pacers trailed by as many as 10 in the third quarter before rallying to pull within five after three quarters, 55-50.  Vandi and Reizey each went for eight points in the quarter.  With just 2:50 to play in the game Blazer5 led by 10, 67-57 but the Pacers put on a furious rally and pulled within two with :16 left before running out of time and losing by one.
