PACERS GAMING VS LAKERS GAMING – 2023 “THE TURN” TOURNAMENT

INDIANAPOLIS (June 22, 2023) – Pacers Gaming evened its record at 1-1 in the NBA 2K League 5v5 THE TURN Tournament Thursday night with an impressive 79-66 victory over Lakers Gaming at home. Indiana was playing its second game is as many nights (lost 76-72 Wednesday to Blazer5) and will play another game on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. against Kings Guard Gaming.

A dominant team win over the Lakers saw Indiana outrebound LA 21-12 and outshoot its opponent 67% to 54%.  The Pacers were an incredible 15 of 23 (65%) from the three-point arc.  The Pacers stormed to a 21-10 first quarter lead as GREENLIGHT (Dylan Sanderson) and CHESS (Kory Taylor) each netted eight points.  The Pacers were five of seven from three-point land in the first period.  Indiana outscored the Lakers 20-13 in the second quarter as GREENLIGHT scored 10 and the home Pacers led 41-23 at intermission.  Los Angeles made a move in the third quarter, outscoring Indiana 22-16 to pull within 57-45 after three quarters.  But GREENLIGHT never saw a red light and exploded for 15 points in the fourth quarter to preserve the Pacers victory.

For the second straight night, point guard and top draft pick GREENLIGHT established another season high with 38 points in addition to season highs in field goals made (14) and three-point field goals made (eight).  JAYSNAGS (Julio Laboy) also netted a season high with 16 points and tied his season highs in assists (four) and blocked shots (three).  JAYSNAGS had season highs in field goals made (six) and attempted (eight) and in three-point field goals made (four).  Veteran center BIG REIGN (Blaine Wilson), a top candidate for league Most Improved Player, pulled down a season high 15 rebounds to go with eight points.  CHESS finished his evening with 14 points and a season high three steals.

RYAN1OF1 led the Lakers with 20 points, followed by KRAZY with 16 points and nine rebounds and TACTUK with 16 tallies.
