PACERS GAMING WIN THE SWITCH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

INDIANAPOLIS – In one of the most dominant displays of team basketball in a single event the NBA 2K League has seen in its five years, Pacers Gaming captured the championship of the 3v3 THE SWITCH OPEN Tournament Saturday evening at the Pavilion at Pan Am with a 4-1 finals series win over Pistons GT.  The Pacers were 9-1 in series’ victories and an incredible 30-9 in games won during their championship run.

Pacers guard VANDI (Zach Vandivier), who averaged a remarkable 14 points in the five-game championship series, was named THE SWITCH OPEN Most Valuable Player. Earlier in the day the Pacers swept Celtics Crossover 4-0 to advance to Saturday night’s title clash with Detroit. The Pacers were trying to be only the second team in league history to win a tournament or event with a perfect record. They fell one game short, losing Game 3 to Detroit.

The Pacers got off to a good start in the championship series by capturing Game 1, 22-14 as VANDI led the way with 16 points on six-of-six shooting from the field. JOMAR (Jomar Varela-Escapa) had two three’s for six points including the game winner. WoLF (Bryant Colon) had game highs of three rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Pacers continued their successful road with a 22-17 win in Game 2 as VANDI once again led the parade with 12 points and three assists. JOMAR contributed six points and WoLF had four points and three rebounds in the win.

The Pacers 13-game winning streak and drive for perfection in THE SWITCH came to an end in Game 3 as Pistons GT recovered to win 21-16. WoLF led Indiana with seven points and three rebounds; VANDI contributed six points and three assists and JOMAR had three points and three steals.

Not shook by its first loss of the week, Pacers Gaming stormed back in Game 4, winning 23-18 on VANDI’s three-pointer. VANDI scored an incredible 21 points in the victory on seven-of-10 shooting from the three-point arc. WoLF who led the team with four rebounds, had the team’s other two points. The Pacers wasted no time in Game 5, jumping out to a lead and never looking back, winning the series and the championship with a 21-13 conquest of Detroit. VANDI had 15 points in the tournament-clinching victory while WoLF had four points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Pacers Gaming is considered the best 3v3 team in the NBA 2K League this season with an overall series record of 15-3.
