INDIANAPOLIS – After suffering its first two regular-season losses of 2021 on Wednesday night, Pacers Gaming sent a message Thursday evening with a dramatic sweep of Magic Gaming (4-4) – taking the lead early and never looking back in winning Game 1, 78-63 and then powering through with a 24-9 fourth quarter to win in come-back fashion, 76-63 in Game 2. The Blue & Gold, now 8-2, next play Wednesday, June 16 at 9:00 p.m. vs. the Gen.G Tigers and on Friday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. against Lakers Gaming.
In Game 1, Pacers Gaming came out of the gate strong leading 23-12 after the first quarter. Rookie 630 (Xavier Barraza) had 12 in the first period and ended the night with 34 points – his ninth consecutive game scoring over 30 points. He led the team with nine assists. The Pacers led 38-26 at the half, 59-40 after three and won the game, 78-63. Swizurk (Nicholas Grech) tallied 17 points and center Jomar (Jomar Varela-Escapa) earned his team-record, ninth-straight double/double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jomar, who had four assists, was eight of 10 from the field.
In Game 2, the Blue & Gold led by five, 18-13, after one quarter as 630 scored nine. The Pacers extended the lead to 37-30 at half. The Magic rallied with a 24-15 third quarter to lead 54-52 after three quarters. The Pacers won going away with a 24-9 fourth quarter. Swizurk led all scorers with a season-high 29 points, followed by 630 with 27 points and 10 assists. Jomar added nine points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win. LavishPhenom (Andron Thomas) pulled down seven boards to go along with four points and three assists. Defensive stopper WoLF (Bryant Colon) scored seven and had a team-high three steals.
